10 Journal Prompts for Self Reflection
Whether it’s a decline in your income, fears about your family's health, or global uncertainty, if we give in, it can feel paralyzing.
There's another option.
It seems simple enough, but it’s often overlooked.
Mindset is everything in business…because too many of us live in “comparisonville”. We compare ourselves to others online. Whether it’s a perfectly styled Instagram photo, a Facebook comment or a YouTube channel, the way forward is not to compare but instead, to focus.
Focus.
Thinking more about your own mindset is something that is typically missing from our everyday lives. Thinking about how you can pivot your business to serve people at this unique time in history can be a way to ignite hope and abundance.
Adjust your mindset from thinking about how scared you are to thinking about the abundance of time you have with your immediate family.
How can we serve others instead of hiding out in fear?
Start by taking stock of what you’re really feeling. Here are some journal prompts that I use for myself and for my own children. I encourage you to use them on a daily basis to help you through this difficult time.
Once you begin allowing yourself to really consider some important questions like “what really matters to me” you will uncover ways to serve…to serve each other, your business, and your community.
Remember…you can still serve in a virtual capacity. In fact, that’s how I operate my business every single day.
10 Journal Prompts for Self Reflection
- Write down a goal you have for next year. Write today’s date, and the goal. Then write out 10 steps you can take over the next few weeks and months to move you closer to that goal. Pay particular attention to making sure each of the 10 steps moves you closer to the goal. What questions do you have?
- What is the best job in the world? Write down what the looks like….what does that person do on a daily basis from the time she gets up in the morning until the time she goes to bed? Start at 5:00 am and write down each hour of the day.
- Is there anything that you’re scared to admit? Your biggest secret? Your biggest fear? Why are you afraid? Is this holding you back from creating a life you love? What steps can you take to move past that?
- Write down a recent accomplishment that made you feel proud of yourself. Why did you feel so proud? What talent or discipline helped you get there?
- Have you ever volunteered to help someone? What did you do? What kind of progress did that person make because of you?
- Imagine meeting your 60 year old self. What advice would your 60 year old self give to you today, in the situation that you’re currently in with your business or your life?
- What is something you’re grateful you have today that you did not have a year ago?
- Think about someone who has caused you pain and write a letter to them. You don’t have to send it, just write it. Explain how they made you feel and write down why you think that is the case.
- If rules are meant to be broken, which ones should never be broken and which ones have wiggle room?
- Write 5 positive qualities about someone in your household. Write at least 2 full sentences about why you think that is the case.
